How Scott Adams makes Dilbert

Drawing Dilbert Cartoons

As I say everytime the subject comes up, my favorite blog of all time is Scott Adam’s The Dilbert Blog. Actually, from time to time I feel that it’s got better material than the comic itself, but then things swing back to normality after a cool episode pops up.

I already knew a lot about his daily routine, but this time Scott’s showing us the whole process, step by step – and with pictures. If you’re into cartooning, some of the hints there – though basic – might prove pretty useful.

There are many tools out there for making digital strips, his choice is Photoshop + Wacom Cintiq. Not bad – but heavily expensive if you really stick to that hardware. I’ve never tested one of those, but I wonder how much better it can be than my new Intuos3, which costs less than a tenth of Cintiq’s price.

At some point we may reveal some tricks of our own here.

Cheers,
Eugen
