Let My Pid’jin Go

I've met this cute nun looking for a place to live. - So, you hope to pose as a saint and seduce her?

Ha! The nurse likes me!!! And i bet you won't get her wearing that shirt!!! - Fine, it's a bet. You pick the punishment for the loser.

I'm never picking punishments again.

We decided to remove a frame.
    .
The episode works better this way so now you get frame one, two, three is removed and you jump straight to four.
    .
If you are curious, the panel that was removed is still available. http://cdn.pidjin.net/wp-content/uploads/old/1800003.png
    .
We say this time less is more – what do you say ?

  7. Alex @ March 9, 2009 at 2:54 pm

I liked the old version better.

  8. Alex @ March 9, 2009 at 2:58 pm

Granted, your new version emphasizes Fredo’s superiority over Pid’jin, but the part where Fredo draws the arrow is hilarious!

  9. theTudor @ March 9, 2009 at 3:05 pm

Interesting. We thought it flows better. And we were also worried it might have been a little to convoluted for someone not paying close attention.
    .
Any more thoughts on this ?
    Please keep them coming :)

  10. Eugen Erhan @ March 9, 2009 at 3:10 pm

This is an episode where we tried a lot of things story-wise (it’s been in the works for 3 weeks now).
    .
Trying new things is the only way to keep the story interesting. However, this means working with untested stuff, and most of the times we have no idea if an experimental episode will work. So far we’ve been incredibly lucky, but we do expect a fail here & there.
    .
So please, do feel free to tell us how this week’s episode hits you. We’re extremely curious.

  11. Alex @ March 9, 2009 at 3:26 pm

It does flow better, no doubt about it. However the side joke detailing how Fredo screws Pidjin over is what makes this episode interesting for me.

Fredo’s resourcefullness makes this episode a smashing success. We can’t see that so well anymore if you take frame three out.

Oh and by the way, since when are you worried that the comic might have too many elements to follow? I think that’s exactly what makes it fun to revisit :)

  12. Teo @ March 9, 2009 at 4:32 pm

I think that with the third panel it’s too convoluted and goes too many directions with the storyline whilst without it, it tends to be lacking in story and the jump seems a little too brusque. It definitely needs another panel between the current 2 and 3, but it should be a little easier to follow.

P.S.:You misspelled “completely” in the panel that was removed.

  13. evergreen @ March 9, 2009 at 4:42 pm

    lol.

    loser :) ))))))

  14. Thay @ March 9, 2009 at 7:02 pm

@Vlad: Sorry to say this, but no one dies a virgin. The government screws us all…

@Eugen & Tudor: My opinion is that the missing panel is telling a lot. Indeed you have to pay attention to understand it fully, but without it I had the feeling that something was missing.

  15. Horhe @ March 9, 2009 at 7:42 pm

The episode is good as it is…. but the missing panel three gave an explanation to why the nurse doesn`t look so happy (or maybe she is happy and I am imagining things…)

  16. Felix @ March 9, 2009 at 8:40 pm

I think the old version explains the title a bit better :) . This new version doesn’t seem to have any relation with the title.

  17. miChou @ March 10, 2009 at 12:08 am

simply put: without the missing panel, the end-result was quite predictible, although the actual punishment for the loser was a nice twist. the missing panel however adds a lot of value story- and humour- wise. we almost always see Fredo getting screwed, but *the way* he gets screwed is what’s really fun to see (it’s like with Tom&Jerry. Tom always gets it, but seeing *how* that happends made it fun ;-) )

  18. Vlad @ March 10, 2009 at 12:04 pm

i liked the first one better. i know you publish your comics monday morning and pretty much everything is hard to follow then, but still, reduce the weekly pidjin dose by 25%, is simply too cruel.

  19. ana @ March 10, 2009 at 12:37 pm

Funny idea :) (I like the removed frame) Did they try to end the world by ‘shopping’ everything already? :) )

  20. baby's got a temper @ March 10, 2009 at 3:07 pm

I think that the posted version is better…Fredo always had success with the ladies, so he needn’t blackmailed the nurse to go out with him…or maybe the nurse is different from the other women? It’s about time you introduced a smart “babe” into action.
By the way,how did Fredo end up in the hospital???I expected a continuation to the nun episode.

  21. alin @ March 10, 2009 at 3:45 pm

no idea why a t-shirt would make a difference.
was the nurse born yesterday and hasn’t seen shirts with stupid messages on them ?

  22. vitezaucide @ March 10, 2009 at 7:52 pm

i`m cool with both versions. the missing panel puts your imagination to work overtime to link the end result with the hospital scene tho`. which btw is nice. good one :D

  23. Carja @ March 11, 2009 at 6:11 pm

well yeah….if you add the other panel the story changes….the new version is more like “women always go for the money” (prada and stuff) ..and it kinda loses Fredo’s “evilness” … and stuff :) i like the old one better..:P

  24. Faninho @ March 13, 2009 at 11:27 am

Nice one, man. But when the world’s gonna end? I mean, this has nothing to do with the world’s extinction.
I personally think that the world will end by itself before fredo&pid’jin do something about it. Just watch TV and you’ll see what i’m talking about.

  25. Alex @ March 13, 2009 at 1:51 pm

Guys, I actually agree with Faninho on this…
    .
It’s been quite a while since the last major world ending episode… How about a new one? Or are you waiting for the LHC to fire up again? :P
