It’s a pretty common joke. I’m surprised you haven’t seen it around. Paedophile scandal, therefore Pope = Paedo. It’s not very original though the voodoo doll was clever, but it’s hardly complicated.

It’s pronounced “peedo” in the UK because we use the original transliterated Greek spelling – mainly because we realise that “pedophile” means, literally, someone who loves the ground.

If kids are educated about personal privacy and respect and to tell if someone abused them, let’s admit it would help. Many times the kids are lured to do “something special, something very secret” and sadly go for it. I taught my son to look out for that sh*t. Undoubtably it would also help if priests were not ‘celibate’. For goodness sake.

Maybe my sense of humor is broken today, but I see nothing at all funny in this. Thousands of child advocacy centers around the nation use dolls similar to the one depicted here (albeit not voodoo dolls) during the forensic interview process with children who were sexually abused. Making light of Catholics and their predilection for pedophilia is one thing, but making light of valid techniques that help children to cope and survive this kind of trauma is going too far.

Wow kid, settle down. “Catholics and their predilection for pedophilia”? Chris, it sounds like you’ve gotten your causation confused with your correlation again. Let’s review:
Some Catholic priests (an undisclosed, undefinable amount) have been accused and, in some cases, convicted of sexually assaulting (harassing, molesting, the actual term isn’t important) male children. Therefore, every single Catholic is guilty of pedophilia.
Now, Chris, I understand that you’re an idiot, so stay with me here. That example, the previous paragraph, is wrong. While it is true that some (perhaps even many) Catholic priests are pedophiles, the defining characteristic of the group is pedophilia. The fact that they are Catholics, and the fact that they are members of the clergy, are not the cause of their pedophilia. Being pedophiles is the cause of the pedophilia.
So, to repeat the lesson, just because a group of criminals share a characteristic apart from their criminal status and the nature of their crime, does not mean that every person who shares the extra characteristic shares the guilt of the crime.
As an example: you’re an idiot. An idiot who lacks a sense of humour. An idiot that can’t understand satire. An idiot who makes vast generalizations because they dislike a certain group of people. That’s all true of *you*. Now lets say I meet another person who doesn’t understand satire. Should I assume that they are also an idiot, without a sense of humour, who makes stupid generalizations on the internet? I can’t stress this enough, Chris, but *no*, no I can’t.
